On September 6, in order for Arafat and Barak to come to an "agreement", Israel is expected to make further concessions re Jerusalem, which are, to grant sovereignty over the entire Temple Mount PLUS the Western Wall to Arafat, and the Jews will get only a "safe passage" to be able to continue to pray at the Kotel.

Petition to Halt the Give Away of Jerusalem Under Pressure by President Clinton

.. President Clinton: do NOT force a meeting between Barak and Arafat.

Stop Pressuring Israel.

All signs lead to President Clinton forcing a three way summit meeting between himself, Yasir Arafat, and Ehud Barak at the opening of the Millennium meeting at the U.N. on September 6th.

Repeatedly the Palestinians have made it clear that they will not settle for less than full sovereignty over Jerusalem, including all of Temple Mount. To demonstrate their "reasonableness", the Palestinians hint they will allow Jews to pray at Al Burak (The Western Wall) and establish a safe passage to the Wall. This "safe passage" will be a "death passage" for anyone attempting to reach the Western Wall as well as perpetuating the loss of Temple Mount to the world.

Sheik Sabri, the Arafat appointed cleric in charge of Temple Mount, has said many times, that no Jew will be permitted to pray on Temple Mount. The Palestinians have implied a number of times that there was no Jewish Temple on Temple Mount and it is a Jewish fabrication. Indeed, the Palestinian revisionists have entered polemical arguments with scholarly archaeological journals such as Biblical Archaeology Magazine, as they attempt to divert attention away from their desecration and destruction of archaeological remains of the First and Second Temples.

The Palestinians have not changed their position since Camp David and in a number of contentious issues have hardened and publicized their red lines to a point that no Palestinian official or group can back down under fear of death.

For Israel to participate in any three way summit foreshadows the end of Israel as a sovereign nation. Clinton is desperate to clinch a Middle East peace deal prior to leaving office, and his arm twisting approaches are well known. This is Clinton's last opportunity, as his term draws to an end, and he is expected to pressure a willing puppet P.M. Barak to surrender to Yasir Arafat. It is also Barak's last opportunity to make his mark on history as Israel prepares to relieve him of his premiership.

President Clinton is anxious to sublimate the stain on his name by a political gesture that while appearing noble, has all the ingredients of destabilizing the entire Middle East and provoking a major war. A weakened Israel cannot survive without the combined power of the U.S., along with enormous amounts of American funding.

It is not in the best interests of Israel nor the U.S. to weaken Israel as transforming Israel into an appendage of the U.S. actually converts Israel from a strategic asset to a strategic liability, and one that under less fortunate economic conditions in the U.S. may be dropped as an ally. Also, the U.S. public will predictably disallow any foreign involvement involving American service men returning in body bags.

We ask all to contact their legislators and make their protests known and demand that the U.S. (President Clinton) halt U.S. pressure on Israel and allow Israel to pursue its own destiny, unhindered by excessive American pressure. Good allies make good partners and are not a servant and a master.

Palestinians Expect Clinton to Resolve the Jerusalem Problem

In an exclusive interview with Al-Quds August 31, 2000 [Palestinian paper with the largest circulation], a senior Palestinian official said that the Palestinian side is now counting on the upcoming meeting between President Yasir Arafat and US President Bill Clinton in New York on 6 September and that no progress on the Jerusalem issue is expected to take place in the negotiations until then.

The source is quoted as saying that President Clinton seems determined to achieve a solution before the end of his presidential term which will end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and that he might succeed in persuading the Israeli side to accept the resolutions of international legitimacy and withdraw from the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem.
